Use FPL chips when they improve the whole plan.
Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain and Bench Boost are not separate mini-games. The best chip decision depends on your squad, transfers, captaincy, bench strength and the fixtures around it.

Fantasy Premier League again gives managers one Wildcard, one Free Hit, one Triple Captain and one Bench Boost in each half of the season. The first set must be used before the Gameweek 19 deadline, and only one chip can be active in a gameweek. That makes timing a season-planning problem, not just a one-week points problem. See the official 2026/27 FPL chip update.
Wildcard is strongest when the shape of your squad needs changing: multiple weak spots, a fixture swing, budget redistribution or a new medium-term plan.
Free Hit can isolate a blank, double or highly unusual fixture set without permanently breaking a squad you still like for the weeks after it.
Bench Boost is less about one exciting bench player and more about whether four normally-unused slots have enough expected opportunity at the same time.
Triple Captain magnifies a captain decision. Fixture quality matters, but so do expected minutes, role, team attacking strength, uncertainty and whether waiting creates a clearly better opportunity.

Using a chip now has an opportunity cost later in the half-season.
Transfers, XI, bench and captaincy should update around the chip.
A planned Wildcard or Bench Boost can completely change whether a short-term transfer is worth making.
Triple Captain only makes sense after the captain call itself is strong enough.
You choose the control level. Chip use can stay review-only while routine decisions use more automation.
No. FPL allows one active chip in a gameweek.
Not automatically. Double gameweeks can create strong opportunities, but squad quality, minutes risk and future alternatives matter too.
